Dr. Péter Szalai received his law degree from the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Eötvös Loránd University.
During the 2017/2018 academic year, he studied with a scholarship at the Facoltá di Giurisprudenza of the Universita degli Studi di Milano, mainly in contract law and company law, in English and Italian. As a result, he wrote his dissertation on a comparative analysis of a segment of Italian and Hungarian law.
During his studies in Hungary, he was a regular proactive participant and organizer of academic conferences at the Department of Criminal Procedure and Prison Law for several years.
As a student, Dr. Péter Szalai gained professional experience in several renowned civil and commercial law firms, as well as at the Budapest-Capital Regional Court, where he was involved in criminal cases of major importance and high profile. His mentors were the leading criminal judges of the country.
He started his professional practice at one of the country’s leading housing development and investment groups, where he mainly worked in real estate and construction law. Given that, he acquired a high level of competence in the establishment and operation of condominiums and in the enforcement of private client rights, including, but not limited to, the defence of minority rights against condominium decisions and the review of sale and purchase agreements for new build properties with a particularly complex structure.
Dr. Péter Szalai, attorney-at-law, has gained experience in several law firms in Budapest after working in the corporate sector. During his professional career he has focused on family law, including representation in divorce proceedings in court, mediation sessions, drafting of marital and cohabitant property contracts. Besides real estate law, family law and company law, Dr. Péter Szalai, attorney-at-law, has also acquired considerable competence in civil litigation. He regularly represents plaintiffs, defendants and intervenors in court in damages cases and divorces, as well as in specific areas such as medical malpractice cases “sanctionable” by grievance award.
Within the Law Firm, Dr. Szalai is also involved in contract law (real estate sales contracts, lease contracts, contractor agreements, contracts of agency, etc.), as well as in non-contentious proceedings, in particular in the proceedings for order for payment and enforcement proceedings.
He speaks English and Italian.
